We Are The Capacity Collaborative

Mission & Vision

Our Mission: To create the conditions for environmental justice by building community capacity.

Our Vision: We believe in a world where all communities thrive.

Our team works in service of the gaping need to build capacity with and for rural and small communities impacted by poverty, neglect and/or racism.

The Capacity Collaborative was established by EFCWest as a collective to provide a full range of expertise in service to environmental justice communities across the United States and East Africa. We offer a systemic approach that integrates environmental protection with training, workshops and mentorship, to catalyze community skills, resources and funding. Through decades of grassroots engagement and organizing, our team protects the environment while building and catalyzing capacity.

  • We have nothing if we don’t have a thriving environment. To help communities sustain and protect their natural world, we provide the following services:

    Climate vulnerability and adaptation planning

    Citizen science support

    Solid waste management

    Water and wastewater resiliency

  • Communities can’t protect their environments if they lack the skills. We build community capacity through workshops, training and mentorship in the following subjects:

    Leadership

    Community Organizing

    Strategic Planning

    Community Benefits Planning

    Community Outreach

    Communications

    Management

  • Having built community capacities, the final step is to leverage these new skills to catalyze resiliency. To achieve this step, we offer training on the following:

Federal and private grant writing and management

    Financial feasibility analysis

    Project measurement and evaluation

    Business plan development
